Acts 10, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #48: BEING A PATIENT PATIENT

PASSAGE: Cornelius Calls for Peter, Peter's Vision, Peter at Cornelius's House

MEMORY VERSE: "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right." Ephesians 6:1

NOTES: (v.1-8) A man named Cornelius was a centurion and a God-fearing man who gave generously to the poor and prayed regularly. One day, he saw an angel of God who told him to send men to Joppa to bring back Simon Peter. At this, Cornelius sent two servants and a devout soldier and told them all that had happened.
-(v.9-23) Peter went up on the roof to pray, and fell into a trance. He saw heaven opened and a large sheet being let down by its four corners. It contained all kinds of animals, and a voice told him to "Kill and eat." Peter refused, for he never ate anything unclean. But the voice said, "Do not call anything impure that God had made clean." This happened three times, and the sheet was taken back to heaven. Then, the men that Cornelius sent arrived at Peter's house. When Peter heard what they told him, he invited them into the house as guests.
-(v.24-48) Peter arrived at Cornelius' house and Cornelius told him the vision that he received. Peter then said, "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism, but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right." He began to preach about the gospel and the resurrection. The Holy Spirit came upon all who heard the message, and they began speaking in tongues and praising God. Peter then ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

ACT OF LOVE: Today, I had an eye appointment at the Costco optometry. My appointment was at 3:20. When did I actually get to see the doctor? 4:30. 4:30!! Apparently the optometrist had arrived an hour late, which messed up the schedule for the entire day. All the other patients were visibly upset, and voiced their complaints to the secretaries/doctor. Though it was easy to join them and become annoyed, I decided to hold my tongue and to give mercy to the employees. My act of love today was practicing patience and love to the secretaries and doctors by keeping a good attitude and smiling at them when they finally got to me. Plus, I felt sort of bad for the secretaries, since it wasn't really their fault but they still got yelled at =\
