PASSAGE: The Empty Tomb, Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene, Jesus Appears to His Disciples, Jesus Appears to Thomas
MEMORY VERSE: "Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong." -1 Corinthians 1:26-27
NOTES: (v.1-18) Mary Magdalene had gone to the tomb early in the morning, and saw that the stone had been removed. She went to tell the other disciples, and they saw that there were strips of linen lying in the tomb, and that the burial cloth had been folded neatly. Mary stood outside the tomb crying when two angels appeared in white where Jesus' body had been. They asked her why she was crying, and when she responded she turned and saw Jesus but did not recognize him. Finally, she realized who he was and told the other disciples the news.
-(v.19-31) Jesus came and stood among the disciples and showed him his hands and side, and they were ovrejoyed. Jesus then told Thomas to put his finger into his hands and to put his hands into his side so that he will believe.
ACT OF LOVE: Inspired by my drawing of Patricia yesterday, I decided to embark on a summer-long project during which I'll draw people to raise money for missions/charity organizations! I asked two of my friends who were going on missions trips this summer if they needed any more financial support, but only one has replied so far. And someone else suggested Union Rescue Mission! More will be updated later, I guess.
But basically, my act of love for today was using my skills to help others!
I also finished another drawing, which I will post later. When I am not so tired.

John 19, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #36: ARTSY FARTSY
PASSAGE: Jesus Sentenced to be Crucified, The Crucifixion, The Death of Jesus, The Burial of Jesus
NOTES: (v.1-16) Pilate handed Jesus over to be flogged, even though he found no charge against Jesus. As the crowd wanted Jesus to be crucified, Pilate gave him to the crowds, though he first tried to free Jesus.
-(v.17-27) Jesus was taken to the place of Skull while carrying his own cross. They crucified him with two others, and a sign that read "Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews" was fastened to the cross. The soldiers divided Jesus' clothes, thus fulfilling Psalm 22:18.
-(v.28-37) Later, Jesus became thirsty, so they took a sponge with wine vinegar and lifted it to His lips. When he received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished," and gave up his spirit. After he died, the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, which brought out a flow of water.
-(v.38-42) Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus to be wrapped in linen and laid in a tomb.
ACT OF LOVE: I decided to put my God-given art skills to use!
I had randomly thought of drawing my friend with the Cool Grey Prisma-Color Markers that I had bought during summer school, and had never used since. I don't usually draw people, so it's definitely not my forte, but I had fun drawing her! It didnt turn out exactly the way I wanted, but since I started this at around 11pm (haha), I stopped after I got the essence of it down. I used one of her old facebook photos,lol..I guess this could be like a super late birthday present, which I'll give her tomorrow.
Guess who?? ;)

John 18, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #35: BRING SNACKS TO SAT CLASS
PASSAGE: Jesus Arrested, Jesus Taken to Annas, Peter's First Denial, The High Priest Questions Jesus, Peter's Second and Third Denials, Jesus Before Pilate
MEMORY VERSE: "For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength." 1 Corinthians 1:25
NOTES: (v.1-11) Judas sent a group of soldiers to arrest Jesus. Simon Peter drew his sword and cut off the high priest's servant's right ear, but Jesus rebuked him by telling him to put his sword away.
-(v.12-18) Peter had to wait outside the courtyard's door, and a girl recognized him as one of Jesus' disciples, but Peter denied it.
-(v.19-24) The high priests were questioning Jesus about his teachings, but he replied, "I have spoken openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues or at the temple, where all the Jews come together. I said nothing in secret. Why question me? Ask those who heard me. Surely they know what I said."
-(v.25-40) Simon Peter was asked two times again if he was one of Jesus' disciples, and each time he denied it. After the third time, the rooster crowed immediately.
Jesus was taken before Pilate who found no charge against him. But to satisfy the people's demands, he handed Jesus over to be arrested and released Barabbas, a criminal.
ACT OF LOVE: Today was the last day of our Math II SAT class at elite! Yay!
Anyways, we usually have a five-minute break in the middle of our 3-hour session, so for my act of love today, I decided that I would bring my two friends a pack of asian snacks to feed them! My mom had bought a box of Hello Pandachocolate panda snacks that were REALLY good, so I wanted to share =) It just so happens that my friend said "I'm hungry!" when I busted out these snacks :) hehe.

John 17, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #34: CSF LOVE
PASSAGE: Jesus Prays for Himself, Jesus Prays for His Disciples, Jesus Prays for All Believers
MEMORY VERSE: review
NOTES: (v.1-5) "Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent."
-(v.6-19) Jesus prays for His disciples: that they will be protected by the Father so that they (we) may be one as Jesus and God are one. As Jesus no longer remains in the world, He prays for the Holy Father's protection.
"I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one."
We are sanctified by truth!
-(20-26) Jesus prays for all believers: that they may be one just as the Father and the Son are one.
"May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me."
ACT OF LOVE: Today, was the Sealbearer's Reception that the juniors had been coordinating for about a month now. Even though I sort of had to help out, I tried to be loving by coming extra early and being as helpful (in coordinating, cleaning, setting up, etc) as possible. Also, I tried to wait until everyone had a piece of cake before I got one myself during the refreshments.

John 16, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #33: MAKE A CARD
PASSAGE: The Work of the Holy Spirit, The Disciples' Grief Will Turn to Joy
MEMORY VERSE: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30
NOTES: (v.1-16) Though Jesus is going away, His departure is for our good because it is only if He goes away that the Counselor will come. "But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come."
-(v.17-3) Jesus reassures the disciples that their grief will turn into joy. Just as a pregnant woman has birth pains before the time of birth but forgets the pain once the baby comes, so will the disciples. "Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy."
"But a time is coming, and has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home. "
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world"
ACT OF LOVE: I read on my friend's blog that she's been feeling physically & emotionally worn out, so I wanted to encourage her with a random card! I drew a picture of us doing p90x at church, to symbolize STRENGTH. get it? haha...
Anyways, I'll give her the card tomorrow. I hope she likes it! I also included Matthew 11:28-30...a great verse!
John 15, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #32: USB
PASSAGE: The Vine and the Branches, The World Hates the Disciples
MEMORY VERSE: "He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful." John 15:2
NOTES: (v.1-17) If we remain in Jesus, we will bear fruit: "He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that he does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful."
This verse really applies to much of what almost everyone has gone through: struggle. Recently, a family friend of ours was diagnosed with breast cancer when a tumor the size of a small fist was discovered. My mother shared with this friend about the past struggle our family has encountered, and reminded me of this analogy. Pruning takes work, struggle, and sometimes pain. But every time God prunes, He is doing it for our ultimate blessing and His glory. Isn't it amazing that there is reason to be thankful in the midst of struggle because of Jesus? PRAISE HIM!
"If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given to you." --The more we know Jesus, the more our wishes and desires align with His will.
-(v.18-27) Memory verse review: "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you."
I remember hearing a speaker say that if God allowed His own Son, who was perfect and whom He loves, to face the worst punishment on earth, how much more would he allow us to be persecuted for His kingdom? But we have the hope in Jesus, who has faced all the pain that we will ever face, and more, and has overcome death's sting!!
ACT OF LOVE: Today, a couple of my friends needed a USB at school for their project. They first asked my friend, but she didn't have one. Normally, I don't make a direct effort to offer my supplies to people who don't ask, but I didn't see why I shouldn't let them borrow mine. Since I had one with me, I offered mine to use and take home for a bit. That's it! =)

John 14, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #31: ONE MONTH MARK
PASSAGE: Jesus Comforts His Disciples, Jesus the Way to the Father, Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit
MEMORY VERSE: You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love. The entire law is summed up in a single command: "Love your neighbor as yourself." Galatians 5:13-14
NOTES: (v.1-14) "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me."
Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well...And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it."
-(v.15-31) If we love Jesus, we will obey his commands as demonstration of our love. The world will not know him, but those who love Him will be loved by the Father and Jesus.
"If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching."
ACT OF LOVE: Life has been surprisingly busy, even after AP season, so I haven't had many chances to do big acts of love. But to celebrate the ONE MONTH MARK of my 365 Days of love Challenge, I...
1. Took Bambi out to pee/fed him/cleaned his poo so that my mom could sleep early
2. Put a new trashbag in the trashcan
3. Gave my mom a hug!
It's been amazing to see what God has done in just this one month--even in seemingly small and insignificant acts of love. I think that one of the greatest changes that I've experienced is the major shift in my daily attitude and perspective. It's easy to revolve my thoughts around school, around my friends, around myself. But ever since this challenge began, I often just spend time looking for ways to love; waking up and asking God how He can use me to love someone that day. As a result, I feel like I've been SO blessed, even by the tiniest things! I get EXCITED over prayers, over refilling the trash bag, over giving up FOOD! I CANT WAIT to see what other things God will lead me to do in the future, albeit big or small! :)
LOVE SO AMAZING, SO DIVINE <3

John 13, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #30: CHOCOLATE DRIZZLE RICE KRISPY
PASSAGE: Jesus Washes His Disciples' Feet, Jesus Predicts His Betrayal, Jesus Predicts Peter's Denial
MEMORY VERSE: "He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." -Micah 6:8
NOTES: (v.1-17) At the Passover Feast, Jesus knew that it was almost time for him to leave this world, and that Judas Iscariot would betray him. He got up and began to wash his disciples' feet. When he came to Simon Peter, he initially refused to let Jesus wash his feet, but Jesus said, "Unless I wash you, you have no part with me." Then Simon asked him to wash his hands and head as well, and Jesus replied, "A person who has a bath needs only to wash his feet; his whole body is clean."
Jesus washed the disciples' feet to set an example, so that we will wash one another's feet.
-(v.18-30) Jesus predicts that one of the disciples will betray him. When Jesus gave Judas the piece of dipped bread, Satan entered into him, and Jesus said, "What you are about to do, do quickly."
-(v.30-38) As Jesus knew that He had little time left with them, he gave them a new commandment: "Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this, all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
Peter claims that he will lay down his life for Jesus, but Jesus answers him by predicting that Peter will betray him three times before the rooster crows.
ACT OF LOVE: At church, I had gotten one of the chocolate drizzle rice krispies welcome room, but I didnt eat it right away. Later, my friend went to go look for a rice krispy, but they were all gone. So I gave her mine, because it's the best tasting (in my opinion) type of rice krispy!

John 12, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #29: LISTEN
PASSAGE: Jesus Anointed at Bethany, The Triumphal Entry, Jesus Predicts His Death, The Jews Continue Their Unbelief
MEMORY VERSE: review
NOTES: (v.1-11) Jesus was having dinner at Bethany, when Mary took a pint of pure nard, poured it on Jesus' feet, and wiped them with her hair. But Judas Iscariot, who would later betray him, objected, "Why wasn't this perfume sold and the money given to the poor?" But Jesus replied, "Leave her alone. It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial. You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me."
-(v.12-19) A great crowd had gathered the next day when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!"
-(v.20-36) "The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in the world will keep it for eternal life. My Father will honor the one who serves me."
Jesus predicts his death by saying, "now the prince of this world will be driven out. But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself."
-(v.37-50) The Jews still did not believe Jesus after all the miraculous signs he performed, thus fulfilling the words of Isaiah (Isaiah 53:1). But still many put their faith in Him, but would not confess their faith in fear of the Pharisees.
Jesus said, "As for the person who hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it."
ACT OF LOVE: This morning, my mom was bothered by a few things, so for my act of love I spent some time just listening to what was on her heart. She got a chance to vent some of the things that were troubling her, so I'm glad I got to spend time with her!

John 11, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #28: MEET SOMEONE NEW
PASSAGE: The Death of Lazarus, Jesus Comforts the Sisters, Jesus Raises Lazarus From the Dead, The Plot to Kill Jesus
MEMORY VERSE: "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?' And I said, 'Here am I. Send me!'" -Isaiah 6:8
I know that I recently just did this verse, but I really wanted to review this again. Today, we had Wowship at King's Harbor and while they were praying for the youth pastors, I felt God really impressing this verse upon my heart. I immediately started praying what Isaiah prayed; "Here am I. Send me! Send me, send me!" I think God was convicting me to be a LIGHT unto the world--at West, at church, in my family, everywhere! I pray that He will send me to the depths of people's hearts and to the ends of the world FOR HIS KINGDOM! I LOVE, I LOVE, I LOVE YOUR PRESENCE, GOD. Let me not fear men, but fear You!
NOTES: (v.1-16) Lazarus, the brother of Mary, who poured perfume on the Lord, was sick and dying. Mary came to told Jesus, and he replied, "This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified through it." Amen!
He planned to go back to Judea, and told the disciples that Lazarus has fallen asleep, and shall be woken up. But the disciples thought Jesus was talking about natural sleep, not death, so Jesus told them plainly what had happened
-(v.17-44) When Jesus had arrived, Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days. Mary and Martha both said that if Jesus had been here earlier, he would not have died. But Jesus said (to Martha) that Lazarus will rise again. He then went to the tomb and wept. Jesus then told the to take away the stone to the tomb, and prayed, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me."
Jesus told Lazarus to come out, and the man came out with his feet and hands wrapped in linen.
-(v.45-57) Many Jews who had seen what Jesus did put their faith in him. But others went and told the Pharisees what Jesus had done, and the Pharisees began plotting to arrest and kill him.
ACT OF LOVE: I met someone sort of new today! After WOWship, there was food outside and I saw someone standing alone. I recognized him from my SAT class, so I struck up a conversation. His name is Andrew, he's homeschooled, and is planning to apply to the Naval Academy! Eventually, some other people began talking to him too.
MEMORY VERSE: "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?' And I said, 'Here am I. Send me!'" -Isaiah 6:8

John 10, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #27: WALKING TO THE BATHROOM
PASSAGE: The Shepherd and His Flock, The Unbelief of the Jews,
MEMORY VERSE:"The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever." -1 Peter 1:24-25
NOTES:(v.1-21) Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved."
"I am the good shepherd. The Good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep."
At this, the Jews were divided, as some believed that he was demon-possessed while others did not believe that a demon-possessed man could heal the blind.
-(v.22-41) Jesus told the Jews that he gives eternal life, and that he and the Father are one. At this, they wanted to stone him for they believed he was blasphemous, but he escaped from their grasp. Many still believed Jesus and came to him. They said, "Though John never performed a miraculous sign, all that John said about this man was true."
ACT OF LOVE: Today, I accompanied my friend to the bathroom.
I know this isn't much, but my friend loves it when someone walks with her to the bathroom. I usually don't go with her unless she asks me, but today I decided that I would offer to go with her, and her face even brightened a bit when I asked her! :)

John 9, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #26: BEING A NICE NEIGHBOR
PASSAGE: Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind, The Pharisees Investigate the Healing, Spiritual Blindness
MEMORY VERSE: review day
NOTES: (v.1-12) Jesus heals a man who was born blind. His disciples asked Jesus if the man or his parents sinned (thus causing his blindness), but Jesus replied, "Neither this man nor his parents sinned. But this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life."
He then spit on the ground, made some mud, and put it on the mans eyes. Jesus told the man to wash in the Pool of Siloam--after this, the man came home seeing.
-(v.13-35) The people brought the man to the Pharisees, and they were divided on this issue. Some believed that Jesus is not from God, for he healed on the Sabbath. But others did not believe that a sinner could do such miraculous signs. They took the man to his parents to verify that he had indeed been born blind and be healed, but his parents told the Jews to ask the man who healed them (anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was Christ was put out of the synagogue).
When they asked the man again how he was healed, he answered, "I have told you already and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become his disciples too?" And they hurled insults at him, for they did not believe Jesus was of God. But the man said, "You don't know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes...Nobody has ever heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind. If this man were not from God, he could do nothing."
At this, they threw him out, saying, "You were steeped in sin at birth; how dare you lecture us!"
-(v.35-41) Jesus saw the man again and told him that He was the Son of Man. The man believed and worshipped him.
ACT OF LOVE: I decided that I would bake cookies for my neighbor! I've lived in the same place for 10 years, but I still barely know who my neighbors are. So, today, I tried to be a good neighbor by randomly baking cookies for the elderly Korean people next door! :) I made thumbprint cookies (recipe from my sister).

John 8, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #25: LUNCH LOVE
PASSAGE: The Validity of Jesus' Testimony, The Children of Abraham, The Children of the Devil, The Claims of Jesus About Himself
MEMORY VERSE: "Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." -Ephesians 6:11-12
NOTES: (v.1-11) In an attempt to trap Jesus, the Pharisees brought him a woman caught in adultery, and asked Him whether or not they should stone her. But Jesus said, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." At this, they began to leave one at a time. After no one has condemned her, Jesus said, "Then neither do I condemn you. go now and leave your life of sin."
-(v.12-30) Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
The Pharisees did not believe Jesus, for they accused him of being his own testimony. But Jesus said that his other witness is the Father, who sent him. Even though the teachers of the law did not understand what Jesus was saying, many put their faith in him.
-(v.31-42) Everyone who sins is a slave to sin; he can only be set free by the Son.
They are Abraham's descendants, but they are ready to kill Jesus, who has told them the truth.
-(v.42-47)"He who belongs to God hear what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God."
-(v.48-59) The Jews accused him of being demon-possessed, but Jesus is glorified by God. Before Abraham was born, He was. At this, the people began to get ready to stone him, but he slipped away.
ACT OF LOVE: I was talking to my friend, Danica Hu, who is also doing the 365 days of love challenge. We were walking to lunch when I asked her if she did her act of love yet--she told me that she gave her lunch money to a friend who needed it for something. Realizing that "giving away lunch money" probably meant that she wouldn't have a lunch today, I offered her mine! Her act of love spurred MY act of love :) SPREAD IT <3

John 7, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #24: MISC.
PASSAGE: Jesus Goes to the Feast of Tabernacles, Jesus Teaches at the Feast, Is Jesus the Christ?, Unbelief of the Jewish Leaders
MEMORY VERSE: "In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven" -Matthew 5:16 [I've done this before, but it's always good to review!]
I was browsing Greg Mah's blog, which contains all his sermons, and came upon the article that talked about being on FIRE for Christ--being the candle of the world. I think this verse really connects with what God's been teaching me right now--this is why I do the 365 days of love; why I blog about it; and why I want to commit to it wholeheartedly. I want to see myself, and others, absolutely PASSIONATE for Christ--despite their age, their circumstance, the world. I pray that we will burn brighter and brighter EVERY DAY!
NOTES: (v.1-24) The world hates Jesus because what He testifies it does is evil. But his teaching is not his own; it comes from God, who sent him. "If anyone chooses to do God's will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own. He who speaks on his own does so to gain honor for himself, but he who works for the honor of the one who sent him is a man of the truth; there is nothing false about him."
-(v.25-44) Jesus faced opposition because of his teaching, and some of the people of Jerusalem tried to seize him because he said that he was of God. Still, many put their faith in him.
"If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him."
-(v.45-52) The Jewish leaders did not believe Jesus and thought that he was deceiving the people, but Nicodemus said, "Does our law condemn anyone without first hearing him to find out what he is doing?" But the Pharisees still opposed him.
ACT OF LOVE: Today, my act of love was doing many small acts of love. Various acts include:
-Throwing away my friends' trash at lunchtime
-Spending time briefly catching up with an old friend
-Complimenting my mother's cooking
-not complaining

John 6, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #23: OPENING A DOOR
Passage: Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand, Jesus Walks on the Water, Jesus the Bread of Life, Many Disciples Desert Jesus
Memory Verse: "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?' And I said, 'Here am I. Send me!'" -Isaiah 6:8
Notes: (v.1-15) Jesus had performed signs and miracles for the people, and wanted to feed them. But they only had a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish. Jesus had the people sit down, and proceeded to take the loaves, give thanks, and distribute the food. When they finished eating, there were TWELVE BASKETFULS of leftovers!! And there had been five-thousand altogether. How He provides, and then some!!
-(v.16-24) Jesus had gone to a mountain by himself and had not returned by evening, so his disciples set off across the late. After having rowed for about 3 miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, WALKING ON WATER, and they were terrified. But Jesus reassured them by saying, "It is I; don't be afraid."
-(v.25-59) "Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the son of Man will give you."
"Then Jesus declared, 'I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty."
Be HUNGRY for Jesus!
This reminded me of Jeremiah 15:16; "When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart's delight, for I bear you name, O LORD God Almighty." In this past school year, I think God has really been teaching me to hunger for His WORD. In the beginning of the year (around October), I was convicted to start memorizing Bible verses to hide His word in my heart so that "I might not sin against [Him]" (Psalm 119:9-11). Then, at Winter Retreat, one of the main points of Greg's message was to live by the SWORD of God. That was when I began journaling my Bible studies each day and committed myself to read one chapter per day, starting in Matthew. It's been incredibly amazing to see what God wants to teach me, and I can't wait to learn more! Let me hunger for you, Jesus!!
-(v.60-70) Many disciples left Jesus because his teachings were too hard for them. But Jesus said, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled him."
ACT OF LOVE: Today, I opened the door for some people as I was entering and leaving lunch. The end! :)

John 5: 365 DAYS OF LOVE #22: SPRING CLEANING
Passage: The Healing at the Pool, Life Through the Son, Testimonies About Jesus
Memory Verse: "Jesus said, 'I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty." -John 6:35
Notes: (v.1-15) Jesus met a man who had been invalid for 38 years at a pool where a lot of disabled people used to lie. He asked the man if he wanted to get well, and Jesus healed him when he told the man to pick up his mat. Since it was the Sabbath, the Jews told the man that it is forbidden to carry his mat on the Sabbath, but the man told them that the one who had healed him said to pick up the mat and walk. He later saw Jesus again, and Jesus told him to stop sinning. The man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus who healed him.
-(v.16-30) "For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it."
"Whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life."
-(v.31-47) John was a testimony to the truth; he was a lamp that burned and gave light. but Jesus' testimony that is weightier than his is the very work that the Father has given him.
Jesus said: "I have come in my Father's name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. How can you believe if you accept praise from one another, yet make no effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God?"
ACT OF LOVE: Cleanliness is next to godliness :)
My mom was gone for most of the afternoon because she was speaking at an out-of-town church, so I had the house to myself for the evening. I decided that I would show love by doing a spontaneous house-cleaning! I cleaned the kitchen, bathrooms, and vacuumed all three floors. The hardest part was cleaning the sink; I had never realized how DIRTY it was! The sink alone took me a good 40-45 minutes. But it was well worth it :)

John 4, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #21: ENCOURAGEMENT NOTES P2
Passage: Jesus Talks With a Samaritan Woman, The Disciples Rejoin Jesus, Many Samaritans Believe, Jesus Heals the Official's Son
Memory Verse: "If your brother is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy your brother for whom Christ died." -Romans 14:15
Notes: (v.1-26) Jesus asks a Samaritan woman for a drink, but the Samaritan woman was surprised because Jews did not associate with Samaritans. But Jesus told her that whoever drinks from the water that He gives will never thirst; she asked for this water and Jesus told her of at time when true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. He then declared that he is the Messiah who was to come.
-(v.27-38) The woman went back to the town and told the people of Jesus, and they made their way toward him. Meanwhile, his disciples urged him to eat, but Jesus said that he has food to eat that they know nothing about.
"My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work." You reap what you sow
-(v.38-54) Many Samaritans believed in Jesus because of the woman's testimony, and invited Jesus to stay with them for two days.
Jesus' 2nd miracle!!
He left for Galilee after having stayed with the Samaritans, and he met a royal official whose son was sick at Capernaum. He begged for Jesus to come and heal his son, but Jesus told him that his son will live. The man took Jesus at his word and left. On the way home, his servants met and and told him that his son was recovering--his fever left him the previous day at the seventh hour. The official realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, "your son will live." So he and all his household believed.
ACT OF LOVE: Continuing what I did last Friday, I decided to leave encouragement notes again while I was at the Albertsons Starbucks. I distributed about 15 encouraging index cards to random cars in the parking lot. It gave me quite a thrill :)

John 3, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #20: EMAILING DAD
Passage: Jesus Teachers Nicodemus, John the Baptist's Testimony About Jesus
Memory Verse: review day
Notes: (v.1-21) Nicodemus, a man of the Pharisees, came to Jesus and asked about eternal life. Jesus responded by saying that no one can see the kingdom of God without being born again--not from the flesh, but birth into the Spirit.
"For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."
Whoever does evil will hate the light; whoever lives by the truth comes into the light so that what he has done can be seen plainly.
-(v.22-36) "A man can receive only what is given him from heaven." John says that he is the friend who attends the bridegroom and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom's voice. This joy is now John's.
"The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him."
ACT OF LOVE: My dad has been in China for a few months now, and won't come back until mid/late June, so I haven't had many opportunities to communicate with him. Me and my father do not always have the most ideal relationship because of some past difficulties, but I decided to try and show love to him by sending him a random and spontaneous email! I just asked him how China was, and told him a bit about my life now. <3
John 2, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #19: JJ BAKERY BREAD
Passage: Jesus Changes Water to Wine, Jesus Clears the Temple,
Memory Verse: "Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made."-John 1:3
Notes: (v.1-11) Jesus' very first miracle!
Jesus was at a wedding when his mother came to him saying that the wine was gone. At this, Jesus replied, "Dear woman, why do you involve me? My time has not yet come." His mother then told the servants to do whatever Jesus told them. He told them to fill the wine jars with water and to bring them to the master of the banquet. When the master tasted the water that had been turned to wine, he exclaimed that they have saved the best wine for last.
This was the first miracle that Jesus performed at Cana. His glory was revealed, and the disciples put their faith in him.
-(v.12-25) Jesus went to Jerusalem when he saw that in the temple courts men were selling and exchanging money. He became angry and cleared the tables and scattered the money, telling them to "Get these [doves] out of here! How dare you turn my Father's house into a market!"
Jesus then said to destroy the temple, and he will raise it again in three days. The Jews did not understand that the temple Jesus spoke of was his body.
ACT OF LOVE: There seems to be a slight trend of me feeding my friends, because for my act of love today, I decided to bring my friend JJ Bakery Pastry before I left the house. She is usually hungry during 4th period, which is right before lunch, so today I thought I would alleviate some of that hunger by giving her some Asian pastries! She ended up sharing it with another hungry friend =) SPREAD THE LOVE <3

John 1, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #18: SNACKS
Passage: The Word Became Flesh, John the Baptist Denies Being the Christ, Jesus the Lamb of God, Jesus' First Disciples, Jesus Calls Philip and Nathanael
Memory Verse: When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart's delight, for I bear you name, O LORD God Almighty. Jeremiah 15:16
Notes: (v.1-18) "Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it."
John was sent from God as a witness to testify concerning that light, but the world did not recognize him. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us--John testifies concerning him.
-(v.19-28) Priests and Levites asked if John was the Christ, but he denied it, saying that he baptizes with water, but to Him who comes after him; John is not even worthy to untie his sandals.
-(v.29-34) John saw Jesus coming towards him and gave his testimony to the people, speaking of the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.
-(v.35-51) Jesus begins to call his first disciples; he calls Andrew and Simon to come and spend a day with him. Simon's name was changed to Cephas (which translates to Peter).
Jesus then found Philip and called for him to follow Jesus, and Philip found Nathanael and told him about Jesus. Jesus sees Nathanael and tells him that he will "see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."
ACT OF LOVE: Today the juniors of CSF board had a meeting at my house to discuss the Sealbearer reception, so I went out and bought some snacks to feed them! There was Pocky, hi-chew, kiwi gummies, ice cream, choco-gummies and organic juice (hehe).

Luke 24, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #17: COLLECTING PRAYERS
Passage: The Resurrection, On the Road to Emmaus, Jesus Appears to the Disciples, The Ascension
Memory Verse: [I've done this one before, but I really liked it so I decided to review it] "I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. 7Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints." -Philemon 1:6-7
Notes: (v.1-12) The women took spices to the Jesus' tomb very early in the morning, but when they got there, HIS BODY WAS NOT THERE!! THEN, suddenly two men in gleaming clothes stood beside them, and told the women that Jesus has risen! They reminded the women of His words in Galilee; "The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again." When the women went back, they told what they had heard to the Eleven and others. But they did not believe the women.
-(v.13-35) Two men were walking along, talking about what had happened when Jesus came up to them. When he asked what they were talking about, they told him about Jesus, who was crucified. When they reached the village, the men urged him to stay with them, so Jesus went in. At the table, Jesus took bread, gave thanks, and gave it to them. At this, they recognized Jesus and returned the Jerusalem, spreading the good news!
-(v.36-53) Jesus came to the disciples while they were still talking about them and frightened them, for they thought he was a ghost. But Jesus showed them his hands and feet and flesh. He told them, "This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised: but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high."
He then blessed the disciples and was taken up into heaven.
ACT OF LOVE: Today marked the day of my LAST AP TEST, so I basically had no homework to do afterschool. However, my sister and her husband unexpectedly came and so I was with them pretty much the whole day! (We had dinner and went to watch BABIES). So by the time I got home and everything, it was 10pm and I hadn't done my act of love yet! I decided to go on AIM for possible inspiration (haha) and my friend Canaan Ko asked me to pray for him. That inspired me to ask as many people as I could (on my buddy list, facebook, etc) for prayer requests, even the people I don't normally talk to. At first, it seemed slightly intimidating to ask people I don't usually talk to, but after a few people I got some momentum going and it ended up being pretty fun! Everyone was very nice about me randomly asking them =) I wrote all their prayer requests in my QT journal, with different colored markers and everything. hahaha. Alot of people even offered to pray for me back, which was awesome.

Luke 23, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #16: I LOVE MOM
Passage: The Crucifixion, Jesus' Death, Jesus' Burial
Notes: (v.1-56) Jesus' crucifixion took place: the arrested Jesus only on the basis of his teaching, though he committed no crime. But even after all their insults, their beatings, and their mockery, Jesus cried out to God for forgiveness for the men, "for they do not know what they are doing."(Wow) Even as this happened, they divided up his clothes and sneered at him, challenging him to prove his identity by saving himself. One of the criminals who was next to him hurled insults at Jesus, but the other one rebuked the criminal, defending Jesus' righteousness. Jesus said to him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."
Jesus breathed his last after he cried out to God, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." A man named Joseph, who did not consent to the Council's actions, came to Pilate asking for Jesus' body. He wrapped it in linen and placed it in an unused tomb. The women who were with Jesus went and prepared spices and perfumes.
Jesus is the ultimate lover.
ACT OF LOVE: Since today was Mother's Day, I tried to make my mother feel truly LOVED. I woke up extra early this morning to make her breakfast--pancakes, coffee, and fruit. I even designed a fancy schmancy menu, even though she didn't really have a choice of what to eat. hahaa..Now, it was my first time using a stove (especially by myself), AND my first time making pancakes, so I was sort of nervous. My first one didn't go too well...
But they got better with practice!
I'd say it was a pretty successful first time-- no egg shells, no one poisoned, nothing (completely) burned :)
I also tried to do all the chores for her today (take care of Bambi's poo, make her and my bed, wash the dishes, etc).
I never realized how FUN it was making pancakes! Let me make you breakfast sometime!!

Luke 22, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #15: SHOPPING CARTS
Passage: Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus, The Last Supper, Jesus Prays on the Mount of Olives, Jesus Arrested, Peter Disowns Jesus, The Guards Mock Jesus, Jesus Before Pilate and Herod
Memory Verse: "As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received." -Ephesians 4:1
Notes: (v.1-6) The chief priests and elders were looking for a way to get rid of Jesus, and Satan went into Judas, who went to the priests and discussed how to betray Jesus. The elders agreed to give him money, and he watched for an opportunity to capture Jesus.
-(v.7-38) The disciples prepared a Passover meal for Jesus, and when it was time to eat, Jesus told the disciples of what was to come. He took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it to the disciples to drink in remembrance of him. The cup is the covenant in his blood, which was poured out for us
He then took the bread, gave thanks, and gave it the the disciples. The bread is his body given for us, which will be broken in remembrance of Him.
Jesus then predicts Peter's denial of Jesus, and prays that Simon's faith will not fail.
-(v.39-46) Jesus went to the Mount of Olives and prayed, "Father if you are willing, take tis cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done." He prayed so earnestly that his sweat was like drops of blood. When he went back, he found them sleeping and told them to pray so that they will not fall into temptation.
-(v.47-62): Both Judas and Peter betray Jesus: Judas approached Jesus with a crowd and kissed him, but Jesus knew what was about to happen. After Jesus had been arrested, Peter was recognized by people three times as being a follower of Jesus. Each time, Peter denied it. Immediately after the third time, a rooster crowed and he remembered Jesus' words.
-(v.63-71) Jesus was taken before the council of elders, and they asked him if he was the Son of God. When Jesus confirmed this, they saw this as sufficient reason to convict him.
ACT OF LOVE: Today, I went to the Korean Market with my mom to buy some groceries and some snacks for a few friends who were coming over to plan some stuff. Afterwards, I offered to put the shopping cart away. When I got to the shopping-cart-holder place (you know the place in the center of the parking lot with like, 2 bars to make rows of carts?) I saw that most of the carts were gathered AROUND the two bars, but they were not in a line and obstructed part of the driveway. So, I decided that I would line up all the shopping carts into their proper place, similar those of the picture below (I didn't have my camera handy).
