PASSAGE: Living Sacrifices, Love
MEMORY VERSE: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord. "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
NOTES: (v.1-8) "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing, and perfect will."
We in Christ form one body; with different gifts and functions. (v.4-8)

"Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse....Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.."

ACT OF LOVE: Continuing off yesterday, I spent most of my afternoon/evening helping out with VBS decorations. After our VBS meeting, I noticed that some paints and brushes were still out so I took them back and cleaned them off.

ReplyDeletei thought something interesting was that like in verse 1 the word "spiritual" is also translated into "reasonable", "rational", or "practical." the idea of being a living sacrifice i think is rational/reasonable in that what else is there to do in light of God and what's gone down? and i guess more literally it's practical cause being a NONliving sacrifice doesnt really help anyone hehe.
