John 19, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #317

*Memorizing Psalm 73 inspired me to continue memorizing whole chapters of the Bible. Next, I think I want to memorize something from the New Testament. I like Philippians, so I will be memorizing Philippians 2 Next! Same format--one verse every two days.

MEMORY VERSE: "If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion"  Philippians 2:1

NOTES: Today, in Sunday School, we studied John 19, which talks about the Crucifixion. What really struck me was the excerpt from a sermon that Julie (who was teaching) read at the end of the lesson. As she was reading and describing the pain and suffering that Jesus went through to die for our sins, I realized that I had become numb to the gospel. By the end of the reading, Julie was in tears at the mere thought of her Savior dying for her sins. To me, it was a reality check seeing how calloused I had become to Jesus dying on the cross. And yet that is not something that we should ever grow cold to. I pray that God will soften my heart once again, and that I'll be broken for my sins that nailed Jesus to the cross.
PS. The sermon was by Mark Driscoll of Mars Hill Church in Seattle. Here is the link

ACT OF LOVE: Sent a random text to my friend in college asking for prayer requests!
Also, gave the counselor who taught Sunday School an encouragement for teaching and doing a good job!
Finally, had a wonderful lunch with my counselor, Abby, catching up on things and just talking with her :)
