Notes:(v.1-7): Caesar Augustus issued a census for the Roman world, and Joseph and Mary had gone to register from the town of Nazareth. When they were there, Mary gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, as there was no room in the inn.

In the town of David, a Savior has been born: he is Christ the Lord. A great company of heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God. The angel left, and the shepherds hurried off and found Mary and Joseph and the baby. When they had seen him, the spread the word of his birth, and glorified and praised God for what they had seen.
-(v.21-39) Jesus had been circumcised and named on the eight day, and Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord and to offer a sacrifice. In Jerusalem, a righteous and devout man named Simeon was told by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord's Christ. He went to the temple courts and when he saw Jesus, he took him in his arms and praised God and blessed Jesus.
A prophetess, Anna, old and widowed, gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all. The child grew to be filled with wisdom.
-(v.41-52) When Jesus was twelve years old, they went up to the Feast of the Passover as custom. His parents returned home, thinking Jesus was with him. When they realized that he was not there, they went back to Jerusalem and found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers and asking them question. Everyone was amazed at his understanding and his answers, so his parents were astonished when they saw him. They questioned him about being there, and he responded, "Didn't you know I had to be in my Father's house?"
