PASSAGE: The High Priest of a New Covenant
MEMORY VERSE: "Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life." 1 Timothy 6:18-19
NOTES: (v.1) "The point of what we were saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by man."
(v.8) "But God found fault with the people and said: "The time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.""
(v.10) "This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their Go, and they will be my people."
(v.12) "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."
(v.13) "by calling this covenant "new," he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear."
ACT OF LOVE: Today, I gave my groupmates post-it notes for their English assignment because they didn't have any.
Also, I spend some time during Barnabas and my QT praying specifically for someone at my school who attempted suicide today. He is a junior, and it is his second or third time attempting suicide; last year, he tried to jump off the top of building 3 (which is 3 stories), until a football player saw him and pulled him back. I don't know who this person is, what his name is, or what he looks like, but I pray that he will find redemption in God's salvation. It's crazy to think that someone would have such a distorted view on life as to want to end it--as if suicide is the best possible option he could see. I can hardly fathom what that would feel like, and I pray that he'll break free from the lies that Satan is feeding him.
