James 1, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #188, DANIEL FAST (5)

PASSAGE: Trials and Temptations, Listening and Doing

MEMORY VERSE: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

NOTES: (v.2) "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, becuase you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking in anything."
(v.5) "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind."
(v.13) "When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death."
(v.19-27) I pretty much like the entire passage on listening and doing, especially the part about being "quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry."

ACT OF LOVE: Today is day 5 of the daniel fast! I woke up too late to get breakfast, but for lunch I got a delicious salad from the cafeteria that resembled the one I had for Chipotle a few days ago! They were serving tortillas, but I just got everything except the meat and tortilla and made it a salad (complete with GUACAMOLE, salsa, jalepenos, and beans! I WAS SO HAPPY).
Also, today I had rehearsals until about dinnertime, and a large pile of homework on top of that. I resolved not to complain about anything the entire day, and to try to maintain a good attitude through everything! Eventually, I finished my homework at a decent time and had a chance to work more on college apps! YAY for productivity!
