Matthew 24

Passage: Signs at the End of Age, The Day and Hour Unknown

Memory Verse: "4Through these he has given us his great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires" -1 Peter 1:4

Notes: Signs at the end of age-
-Birth Pains: (v.4-8) Many will come in Jesus' name, claiming, 'I am Christ' and deceive many
You will hear of wars; nation will rise against nation
There will be famines and earthquakes in various places
-(v.9-14) "Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me"
Many will turn away from the faith and betray each other, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved
The gospel will be preached to the whole world
-(v.15-21) "Let no one on the roof of his house go down to take anything out of the house. Let no one in the field go back to get his cloak"
What does Jesus mean by this?
-(v.24-25) False Christs and False Prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive. Don't believe them
-(v.29) After the "distress of those days," Isaiah 13:10 will be fulfilled
-(v.30-31) The Son of Man will appear in the sky with power and glory
-(v.32-35) "When you see all these tings, you know that it is near, right at the door. I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away"
-(v.36-41) No one knows the day or the hour; not even the angels in heaven or the Son, but only the Father
It will be like the days of Noah: they knew nothing about what would happen until it happened. The people were eating and drinking and marrying in those days
-(v.42-44): Keep watch, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him
-(v.45-51): Be like the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household
"It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns"
-What signs have appeared already?
-Am I living like the faithful and wise servant?
-Am I ready for Christ to return?
