Psalm 24, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #269: WORLD VISION

MEMORY VERSE: "Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart. But as for me, my feet had nearly slipped; I had nearly lost my foothold. For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. They have no struggles; their bodies are healthy and strong. They are free from the burdens common to man; they are not plagued by human ills." Psalm 73:1-5

NOTES: 1 The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it,
   the world, and all who live in it;
2 for he founded it on the seas
   and established it on the waters.
 3 Who may ascend the mountain of the LORD?
   Who may stand in his holy place?
4 The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,
   who does not trust in an idol
   or swear by a false god.[a]
 5 They will receive blessing from the LORD
   and vindication from God their Savior.
6 Such is the generation of those who seek him,
   who seek your face, God of Jacob.[b][c]
 7 Lift up your heads, you gates;
   be lifted up, you ancient doors,
   that the King of glory may come in.
8 Who is this King of glory?
   The LORD strong and mighty,
   the LORD mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, you gates;
   lift them up, you ancient doors,
   that the King of glory may come in.
10 Who is he, this King of glory?
   The LORD Almighty—
   he is the King of glory.
One great thing about the Bible is how universal it is--lately, it seems as if all the Psalms that I have been reading pertain to my life some way or another. I think God is purifying my heart so that instead of receiving vindication from the things of the world, my only vindication is from God.
Yesterday, as I was spending time with God I just started thinking about the sunset I saw. Then I thought about how many sunsets God makes in one day throughout the entire world. THEN I thought about how each  sunset is unique from the day before. And then I thought about how God's been doing this from the beginning of time--about how each day brought about new sunsets. And that's just talking about sunsets--not even mentioning the millions and millions of other miracles each day that we don't even notice. It just blew. my. mind. How true is it that "The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it!" (v.1)

ACT OF LOVE: Today, I started a commitment to raise $150 by the graduation to donate to World Vision. Since I'm not allowed to have a job, my goal is to give up one meal a week ($5) and to save up at least $5 throughout the month until the end of June.
$5/week x 4 weeks = $20/month + $5 extra
=$25/month
x 6 months
= $150.
I made my first contribution of $20 to my World Vision fund. Hooray!
