Passage: Jesus at a Pharisee's House, The Parable of the Great Banquet, The Cost of Being a Disciple
Memory Verse: "Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music" -Psalm 98:4
Notes: (v.1-14) Jesus was eating at a Pharisee's house when he began to talk about healing on the Sabbath: "If one of you has a son or an ox that falls into a well on the Sabbath day, will you not immediately pull him out?"
"For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted"
When you prepare a dinner, do not invite friends so that you will be repaid. Instead, invite the poor, the cripples, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.
-(v.15-24) Jesus speaks about the kingdom of God through a parable of a Great Banquet: a man who was preparing a great banquet invited many people, but they all made excuses to not come. Angered, the man ordered his servants to invite the poor and cripples, and those from the country lanes so that his house will be full. And not one of the men who were invited will get a taste of the banquet.
-(v.25-35) To be a disciple, one must "hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters" and carry the cross. Like building a house, a disciple must first sit down and lay the foundation so that he is able to finish it.
"Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?...He who has ears to hear, let him hear."
ACT OF LOVE: Today's act of love wasn't a biggie: I decided to just go and talk to people I normally don't talk to during fellowship. I got to meet Allan, who is in college, and Anna, who is a college-bound senior, as well as talk to some other miscellaneous people within the fellowship. It was a small step out of my comfort zone to talk to these people, and was potentially awkward at times when we sort of ran out of things to talk about, but all in all it was a very nice experience getting to know some new people! It was quite interesting to see where the conversations went with different people. Go try it yourself, and see the kinds of topics you stumble upon! :)
YEEUHH get outa that comfort zone! :P yeah i try my best to reach for people i dont know with my 365 days of love.hard but managable B]
