John 9, 365 DAYS OF LOVE #26: BEING A NICE NEIGHBOR

PASSAGE: Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind, The Pharisees Investigate the Healing, Spiritual Blindness

MEMORY VERSE: review day

NOTES: (v.1-12) Jesus heals a man who was born blind. His disciples asked Jesus if the man or his parents sinned (thus causing his blindness), but Jesus replied, "Neither this man nor his parents sinned. But this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life."
He then spit on the ground, made some mud, and put it on the mans eyes. Jesus told the man to wash in the Pool of Siloam--after this, the man came home seeing.
-(v.13-35) The people brought the man to the Pharisees, and they were divided on this issue. Some believed that Jesus is not from God, for he healed on the Sabbath. But others did not believe that a sinner could do such miraculous signs. They took the man to his parents to verify that he had indeed been born blind and be healed, but his parents told the Jews to ask the man who healed them (anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was Christ was put out of the synagogue).
When they asked the man again how he was healed, he answered, "I have told you already and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become his disciples too?" And they hurled insults at him, for they did not believe Jesus was of God. But the man said, "You don't know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes...Nobody has ever heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind. If this man were not from God, he could do nothing."
At this, they threw him out, saying, "You were steeped in sin at birth; how dare you lecture us!"
-(v.35-41) Jesus saw the man again and told him that He was the Son of Man. The man believed and worshipped him.

ACT OF LOVE: I decided that I would bake cookies for my neighbor! I've lived in the same place for 10 years, but I still barely know who my neighbors are. So, today, I tried to be a good neighbor by randomly baking cookies for the elderly Korean people next door! :) I made thumbprint cookies (recipe from my sister).
 MMM...the taste of love <3
