Passage: The Word Became Flesh, John the Baptist Denies Being the Christ, Jesus the Lamb of God, Jesus' First Disciples, Jesus Calls Philip and Nathanael
Memory Verse: When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart's delight, for I bear you name, O LORD God Almighty. Jeremiah 15:16
Notes: (v.1-18) "Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it."
John was sent from God as a witness to testify concerning that light, but the world did not recognize him. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us--John testifies concerning him.
-(v.19-28) Priests and Levites asked if John was the Christ, but he denied it, saying that he baptizes with water, but to Him who comes after him; John is not even worthy to untie his sandals.
-(v.29-34) John saw Jesus coming towards him and gave his testimony to the people, speaking of the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.
-(v.35-51) Jesus begins to call his first disciples; he calls Andrew and Simon to come and spend a day with him. Simon's name was changed to Cephas (which translates to Peter).
Jesus then found Philip and called for him to follow Jesus, and Philip found Nathanael and told him about Jesus. Jesus sees Nathanael and tells him that he will "see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."
ACT OF LOVE: Today the juniors of CSF board had a meeting at my house to discuss the Sealbearer reception, so I went out and bought some snacks to feed them! There was Pocky, hi-chew, kiwi gummies, ice cream, choco-gummies and organic juice (hehe).
