PASSAGE: Rules for Holy Living, Rules for Christian Households
MEMORY VERSE: "Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life--in order that on the of Christ I may boast that I did not run or labor in vain." Philippians 2:14-16
NOTES: (v.2) "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God."
(v.5) "Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry...But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator."
(v.12) "Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all togehter in perfect unity."
(v.15) "Let the peace of Christ rule your hearts...and be thankful."
(v.17) "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all int he name of the Lord jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
(v.18) "Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them. Children, obey your parents in everything, for it pleases the Lord."
(v.23) "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."
ACT OF LOVE: Today, I...
-Tried to be a good customer to the Subway sandwich man by having a good attitude! His tone of voice changed from monotone to slightly cheerful :)
-Had a nice conversation with my dad about college. Sometimes, conversations about college/future/school can get a bit tense with my parents because they don't want me to procrastinate, but I tried to keep the mood of the conversation happy & to be responsive. It wasn't a super deep and personal talk, but it was once of the nicest conversations I've had with my dad in a while!
